Clay Pirtle: Co-Owner & Instructor
My yoga journey started in 2012. I was a head boys varsity basketball coach and got reassigned unexpectedly. I was shattered and decided to take 1 year off from coaching and just teach. A friend suggested I try yoga and meditation and that suggestion transformed my life. I have been practicing yoga ever since. I took a 200-hour yoga teaching training in the summer of 2017 with Mind Tribes, based in Houston at the time and now relocated to Boise, Idaho. I have taught over 350 hours since becoming a certified teacher. I love combining my years and experience as a teacher and coach along with my yoga training, and personal yoga practice to help people transform their lives!
DeAnna McDearmont: Co-owner & Instructor
DeAnna (E-RYT 200, RYT 500, YACEP) initially began practicing yoga after a shoulder injury and was amazed at the results she saw. When she began yoga training, she wanted to deepen her personal knowledge of yoga and had no plans to teach it to others. However, life had other plans and she soon found herself teaching, She loves the positive impact yoga has both physically and mentally in all ages and as a yoga instructor, she enjoys sharing her knowledge with others. DeAnna believes everyone can benefit from yoga! DeAnna likes teaching a slower paced class that emphasizes mind/body awareness, breathing and deep stretching. She has a special interest in the chakra system, sound healing and creative healing art. She is certified in Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Trauma Informed Yoga. She also holds practitioner certification in Sound Healing.
Leah Conner: Co-owner & Instructor
Leah has practiced yoga, off and on, for 25 years, but in 2018 decided to gain more knowledge about the actual history and lifestyle of yoga by pursuing her 200-hour teacher training. She loved the training so much that in 2019, she completed another round of training and is now a registered 500-hour instructor. Her desire is to bring positive energy and compassion to the mat for everyone from beginner level to advanced. Leah loves the ancient teachings and sharing how yoga can help with healing both physically and mentally, from physical and/or emotional trauma, and how yoga is a powerful tool for achieving overall health. Yoga is wonderful exercise, but there is so much more to gain than physical fitness!
Rachel Finney: Co-owner & Instructor
I began practicing yoga in 2014 at Brick House Yoga in Sulphur Springs. I was training for a half-marathon at the time and wanted to use yoga to prevent injury and aid in stress relief to reduce migraine headaches. While a yoga practice was perfect for both of these goals, I found so much more on the mat. Without a doubt, the yoga mat is the first place I have ever experienced complete non-judgment. It is where I learned self-acceptance. It is where I learned to be present. It is where I learned to be still. And it is where I started a journey of self-discovery that I continue today. In short, yoga changed my life. I recently earned my 200-RYT certification with Melissa Pierce and completed my 300-RYT in 2020. I plan to pick up specialized certifications in restorative yoga, kids’ yoga, and trauma-informed yoga. Owning a yoga studio has been a dream of mine for several years now, and I am excited to be a part of One Soul Yoga in Sulphur Springs.
Allison Martin: Co-owner & Instructor
I am a wife, girl mom, nature lover and adventure seeker. I received my 200-RYT certification in August 2019 from Purple Lotus Yoga. I found my love for yoga purely by accident in 2012 when I was looking to change up my usual workout routine. As I attended classes, workshops and retreats I found that there was so much more to yoga than just the physical aspect and started noticing a change in my mental well-being and overall health. While I love a sweaty power flow class, I also enjoy a nice relaxing restorative class and pretty much everything in between! I hope to share my love for yoga with others as I continue to grow in my own practice. When I’m not on the mat I enjoy traveling and exploring new places, reading, cooking, and spending time outdoors.
Scott McDearmont: Instructor
Scott is a physician and 200-hour RYT who found an interest in yoga after experiencing the health and calming benefits it has on the mind and body. He obtained his yoga teacher certification in 2019 and his interests include a broad range of topics on yoga in relation to health and wellness. He is an occasional substitute yoga instructor and enjoys leading Restorative yoga and Yoga Nidra. Outside of his medical practice and the yoga studio, Scott enjoys tending to his flock of chickens, traveling and family time.
Libby Sharpe: Instructor
Libby has been fascinated with yoga for as long as she can remember, enjoying 'Lilias, Yoga and You' when she was a teenager. Her practice always contained a desire to teach and share yoga and the wonderful benefits and enjoyment it brings. Life takes us along many detours, but a re-commitment to yoga led her to recently begin her yoga teacher training. While still discovering and exploring forms of yoga, she currently brings her own quirky, eclectic spin to Hatha Yoga. She also is a longtime practitioner of breathwork and enjoys leading groups in ecstatic dance.
